Very Large Pair of Early 20th Century German Majolica Seated Figures, very realistically modelled and handpainted in the form of two young entertainers; probably gypsy children playing, singing and dancing for their supper. The girl, with a tambourine, a blue ribbon in her hair and silver coins for earrings; a beaded necklace; a green laced bodice over a full sleeved blouse with lace cuffs; and a beautifully decorated apron tied over a pink skirt. The boy plays a wooden flute. He is dressed in knee breeches, a sheepskin sleeveless coat over a red waistcoat and full sleeved shirt, a satchel slung across one shoulder with a soft green hat decorated with ribbons and pom poms. Both wear soft, cross gatered slippers.
A highly decorative and almost certainly unique pair of antique figures - would look great sitting on a mantlepiece or similar. The figures come with a pair of later 1950s walnut stands with green velvet cushions. Both figures have multiple repairs, but it takes a keen eye to spot them!
