Antique Germanic Australian Cedar Bookcase
** SOLD **
Mid 19th Century Australian Cedar Bookcase, German influence, the upper section with glass doors enclosing 3 fixed shelves and the lower section featuring a pair of doors with applied shield panels, flanked by bobbin turned columns and below a full width frieze drawer.
Superb condition, full cedar construction, original hand drawn glass - 3 panels to each door separated by glazing bars. Lovely old revived finish with excellent colour, showing a German design influence probably originating from the Barossa Valley region of South Australia. Also noteworthy are the double escutcheons to upper and lower doors as well as the unique spring steel door catches.
